Bergen Family Center Adult Day Care Program Support
the Adult Day Care program that responds to the problem of premature
institutionalization of the elderly; the program serves the mentally and
physically frail and the blind and visually impaired.
Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living Assist
with operating expenses to provide health and related services to
seniors. The center’s goals are self-sufficiency and independent living.
Environment
Flat Rock Brook Nature Association Help maintain this 150 acre nature preserve and support environmental education programs.
Tenafly Nature Center Support programs that promote an appreciation for wildlife, nature, and the natural and social sciences.
Health
Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative Help
provide free preventive and primary medical care to low-income, working
community residents who do not have health insurance or the means to
pay for care.
Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Refurbish the Activities Room and adjacent solarium in the Behavioral Health Unit.
Planned Parenthood Help
underwrite patient fees for family planning, gynecological care and
primary health care and provide family life education through the Center
for Family Life Education.
Vantage Health System Subsidize the psychiatric and addiction treatment of community residents.
Visiting Homemaker Home Health Aide Service Fund
the Englewood Senior Care Program, which provides short-term home
health care services to cope with crisis situations and arranges for
appropriate long-term care.
Social Services
Center for Food Action Provide
emergency food packages, help with rent and utility bill payments and
provide counseling, referrals and advocacy to prevent hunger and
homelessness.
Healthy Families Program Fund staff development for this voluntary home-based program designed to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Office of Concern Enable
this food pantry to add fresh fruits and vegetables to the food
packages it distributes to impoverished community residents.
Shelter Our Sisters Support
this emergency shelter and the 24-hour hotline serving victims of
domestic violence; in addition to temporary housing, SOS provides
services that focus on the attainment of safety, empowerment and
self-sufficiency for each client.
Volunteer Center of Bergen County Help
provide home repair services, mentoring programs, holiday giving
programs, leadership and program management training, and volunteer
opportunities for residents and agencies.
Women’s Rights Information Center Help
make the center’s services available to those who are in economic
crisis but do not qualify for government or other public programs.
Services include access to employment opportunities and affordable
housing, peer counseling, legal consultations and appropriate referrals.

provide Englewood Public School students with the financial support
they need to succeed in academic programs in high school and beyond.
Home Instruction Program for Parents of Pre-school Youngsters Promote
school readiness with Bergen Family Center’s home-based family support
program designed for parents to provide educational enrichment for their
pre-school children.
New Jersey SEEDS Provide
educational opportunities for motivated, high achieving students of
modest means. The program aims to prepare each participating student for
admission to a top, four-year college.
Youth Center Fund
an after school/early evening program at Bergen Family Center offering
enrichment, tutoring and recreation for Englewood’s at-risk middle
school youth.
